Coach Emma – York & Selby Coach
I have grown up with a passion for football- joining my first team at 5yrs old. I went on to captain both my primary and secondary school football teams, as well as playing for Portsmouth and then later Arsenal womens team.
I got into coaching by returning to my old primary school at 14yrs old to coach and manage the school’s first girls football team. I loved helping the girls develop and learn new skills, whilst creating opportunities for friendships and teamwork. When I finished school I went to college to study sport where I gained a Distinction grade in my course.
I joined a football coaching company which went into primary schools taking over PE lessons and running after school clubs. I worked for this company for 5 years before changing career paths and working in an out of school club setting. I then went on to work in a nursery, then a pre school, before moving to the primary school where I currently work.
Personality wise I am a very energetic, am always on the go and involve myself in a lot of physical activity as well as football, including; kickboxing, rock climbing, motocross and surfing. I am almost always smiling, as well as being a laid back, adaptable and very patient person. The children at school call me “The fun teacher” because I am constantly playing silly games with them and generally just running around like a nutter.
